WATER OUTAGE: Some Country Club Hills residents will be affected

SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - Residents who live near the Country Club Hills area of Shreveport will lose access to water Wednesday night.

The City of Shreveport advises residents that city crews will be working late into the night replacing a 12-inch water main that burst on Curtis Ln. back on May 8.

Affected residents were notified of the outage Wednesday morning.

In association with Super-Mann Blount’s annual Fit for Life weekend, Blount will lead all 5th graders from Caddo, Bossier and DeSoto parish schools in a Fit for Life D.A.R.E. Day.

The event is scheduled for Wednesday, May 9 from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. at Independence Stadium.

Over 7,000 kids are expected to participate in fitness, nutritional information, fitness exhibitions, Zumba, dance aerobics and more.

The focus, according to organizers, is to help educate and motivate Louisiana kids to get up, get out and ‘Be Fit for Life’.

City leaders, NFL All-Pro Ezra Johnson formerly of the Green Bay Packers are expected to be among those in attendance.

The Fit for Life Sports Weekend takes place May 12-13 and will feature more than 20,000 athletes from around the world competing in a variety of sporting events throughout Shreveport and Bossier.

The Mardi Gras Krewe of Aesclepius and Raising Cane’s at Pierre Bossier Mall will be hosting a Mardi Gras Bead Recycling Drive.

The drive is scheduled for Saturday, May 12 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Fit for Life Sports Weekend takes place May 12-13 and will feature more than 20,000 athletes from around the world competing in a variety of sporting events throughout Shreveport and Bossier.  

Bodybuilding, strongman competitions and arm wrestling are just a few of the varying athletes and sports you will see competing at the Shreveport Convention Center.  

Admission is $20 per person at the Shreveport Convention Center on Saturday, May 12 and will give spectators access to all events throughout the day.

Holiday Lanes Bowling presented a check for $250 to 6th grade teacher, Sandra Fuller. 

Mrs. Fuller teaches at Newton Smith in Shreveport.

The grant was part of the company's Bowling to Teachers Classroom Supply grant  program.
